THE STORY BEHIND…

Not your average family mealtime scene or portrayal of the heroic Batman for that matter of fact. His downtrodden demeanour represents his realisation that he has been living a lie and that the crafty Joker, his enemy, in fact fathers his children (Come on batman, did the clown smiles not give it away?!). They seem to be taking the piss out of him with their giggling, cheeky faces. They have taken over the drivers seat. His wife has lost interest completely and is in fact looking at a picture of her lover, the Joker, on her phone. Subtlety is clearly not her strong point.

This dinner scene is part of the superhero inspired, photographic series that Jenny Boot has produced as part of The Awesome collection. As most editions of the artwork have found a new owner already it is under collectors status and therefor a little more pricey than most other works.

artist

Jenny Boot (The Netherlands, 1969) started her artistic career as a painter, but soon realised photography was an even more precise medium to express her feelings, a language that gave her more control in translating her vision into images.
